The mix of work and play.

It's always a good idea to find an ideal balance of both work and play in order to maintain a life that is both balanced and stress free.

I'm still working on it. There are times when some things overtake others. It's can get hectic in certain areas at certain times, but the goal is always there.

As such, we've decided to try and work a little RC into our Saturday routine. Our "weapon" of choice is the KT-8 racing kart. It's easy to carry and doesn't have many moving parts, but it's also a big challenge to drive well. (I'm still not quite there yet)

I've changed it a little from the kart that I used during the 24 hour race. I've removed the Nokonoko doll. It's now very light, and very quick!!! I'm struggling to get it working nicely but I'll stick to it.

New rear tyres have certainly helped.

Until next time...

Wow... What was that?

We now seem to have gone from a very, very hot Summer to now, a very, very wet and noisy start to Autumn. Noisy in the fact that there is a lot of Thunder and Lightning around. Still, we are yet to see a Typhoon this year come across the island of Shikoku, let along the prefecture of Tokushima.

I don't know if Global Warming is the right term, but there is certainly a very large shift in the weather patterns that has been noticeable within the last 2 years.

Still, the cooler weather under cloud and rain is nice. I don't mind storms, they are one of the forces of nature that I can almost understand.

Have a great day....

A song for the day.

I thought for today I would post the lyrics of a song that seems to really resinate with me at the moment. It basically talks about the trials of the day to day and what we can do to try and change the world and why it doesn't really make that much difference.. It's quite thought provoking.

Pearl Jam - Indifference......

I will light the match this mornin'
So I won't be alone
Watch as she lies silent
For soon night will be gone

Oh, I will stand arms outstretched
Pretend I'm free to roam
Oh, I will make my way
Through one more day in hell

How much difference does it make?
How much difference does it make?

I will hold the candle
'Til it burns up my arm
Oh, I'll keep takin' punches
Until their will grows tired

Oh, I will stare the sun down
Until my eyes go blind
Hey, I won't change direction
And I won't change my mind

How much difference does it make?
Mmm, how much difference does it make?
How much...

I'll swallow poison
Until I grow immune
I will scream my lungs out
'Til it fills this room

How much difference?
How much difference?

How much difference does it make?
How much difference does it make?

Oooh, ooh
Oooh, oooh...

Time to enjoy

The temperature seems to be on the way down a little. It's not over 30 when you wake up in the morning.

This is the perfect time to do some exercise and I'm not letting this time pass me by.

So this morning I met a friend and we went riding.

Was a lot of fun, but against the wind it was quite challenging....

Just as it should be.

It's almost time.

I went for a walk/run yesterday morning. Along my running route there are a lot of rice fields. Well, I do like in a failry rural part of Japan so that makes sense.

Now, it's almost time for this years harvest.

I really feel sorry for the farmers that do the harvest. This year the temperature is particularly high. I know they use machines to cut the rice, but they are still out there in the sun for most if not all of the day.

Another side to this is that most of the farmers are of the age where this kind of temperature is more than just an annoyance, it's down right dangerous. There's been a high number of people die so far this summer from heat related illnesses....

Thank you to the farmers.
